How long have you been at Good Growth?
It’s been 11 months, so I’m fast approaching my first anniversary of joining.
How much has the business changed in that time?
It’s changed a lot and so has my role, but definitely for the better. I originally joined as an eCommerce Executive, I’ve done a lot of marketing work, and I’m now in an Account Executive role so I’m spending a lot more time with clients. The business has been constantly adapting to market conditions and the needs of clients, which has allowed me to build new skills and focus on new areas – which has been great.
What does a normal day look like for you?
It completely varies depending on what clients I’m working on and depending on the day. Generally, I kick off my day with emails and stand ups, meeting prep and project planning. Then afternoons are all about clients and meetings. When I have the luxury of a few free hours, I get stuck into client and project work.
What’s your favourite part of your role?
Probably when a client can’t believe how quickly we’ve delivered something that’s been a challenge for them for so long. It’s always a really good feeling and validates that you’re doing a good job. With the clients that I work with, there is quite a constant feedback loop, so you can see the fruits of your labour very quickly.
What’s the coolest thing you’re working on right now?
We’re working on a website rebuild, and being a digital minded person, taking a website apart to its bare bones and then rebuilding it for a better user journey with a much more modern design has been such a cool experience. Loads of cross functional work has gone into it which has been awesome, I’ve been able to work with a number of different teams and colleagues – so just to see how they work and collaborate has been really cool.
What’s the best thing about being at Good Growth?
It’s got a really good culture of pushing you to take on responsibility to develop yourself. You’re constantly encouraged to develop and given constructive feedback – everyone wants to produce the best work for our clients whilst pushing ourselves at the same time.
What was the last book you read?
At the moment I’m reading a cookery book that’s focused on food science – I quite like my cooking, but I wanted to learn more about the science side of things. It’s called Salt Fat Acid Heat – it’s quite niche but really interesting.
What website do you visit the most?
Inside work it varies a lot, I do a lot of work analysing and optimising websites, so it could be a client’s website or analytics tools. Outside of work I’m a YouTube and Reddit fan.
What’s your favourite way to unwind after work?
Depends on my mood and the weather. I love skateboarding in good weather, but if it’s chucking it down with rain I’ll be inside cooking and watching football – I’m a Man United fan, and they’re often playing midweek.
When you were a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up?
It’s a classic one – I wanted to be a footballer or something to do with extreme sports. Growing up I watched a lot of the X Games, so I’m in quite a different role today!!!
